24th June 2018:  Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group Exhibition to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Academy

Ronald Hellen will be joining members of the Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group to take part in a group exhibition entitled ‘Legacy’ to be held at the Halesworth Gallery, Suffolk from 21st July to 8th August 2018.

The exhibition will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Academy of Arts and those taking part will reflect on how their studies and their tutors at the Royal Academy Schools have influenced their artwork through their careers.

Participating artists include: Linda Adcock, Lucy Bell, Michael Checketts, Kay Edwards, Chris Glanville, Paul Hawdon, Ronald Hellen, Melvyn King, Mary Millar Watt, M J Mott, Daphne Sandham, Ivy Smith, Robin Warnes and Joceline Wickham.

26th May 2018: Standing a Little Outside Life: Edward Bawden and his Friends and Followers

Ronald Hellen has been invited to exhibit a painting: ‘Orford Castle, Suffolk, Evening’ at Neil Jennings’ forthcoming exhibition: Standing a Little Outside Life: Edward Bawden and his Friends and Followers at Morley Gallery, 61 Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7HT from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd June (11.00-6.00) and Saturday 23rd June 2018, (12.00-5.00).

The selling exhibition includes work by Edward Bawden and his contemporaries and works by artists inspired by Bawden today.  Bawden was Ronald Hellen’s tutor at the Royal Academy Schools.  A number of the contributing artists will be in attendance at the Gallery between 2 to 4.30 on Saturday 23 June.  The exhibition coincides with the current Edward Bawden exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery.

30th March 2018: Jackson’s Open Painting Prize 2018

Ronald Hellen’s painting, Drying Flags on the Foreshore, Rye, Sussex, has been selected for the Longlist for the Jackson’s Open Painting Prize 2018.

10th June 2017: Reflections in an Aquarium to be exhibited at the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition

Ronald Hellen’s painting Reflections in an Aquarium has been selected for exhibition as part of the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition.  The exhibition is being held from 13th June to 20th August 2017.  Read about Ronald Hellen’s artist studio tips on the Royal Academy’s Studio Shots website.

Ronald Hellen’s paintings can also be seen at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, London as part of the Not The Royal Academy Exhibition from 13th June to 19th August 2017; the Seaside Gallery in Bexhill-on-Sea and at the Rye Society of Artists Exhibition from 5th to 27th August 2017.  He will also exhibit at the Halesworth Gallery Open Exhibition from 2nd-20th September 2017.

Ronald Hellen was invited to take part in this year’s Inspired by Becker exhibition at Wenhaston Church, Suffolk from 4th to 6th August 2017.  The exhibition celebrated the work of the artist, Harry Becker.

Exhibitions in 2016

Ronald Hellen will be exhibiting with the Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group at the Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh, Suffolk from 14th to 20th April 2016.

He has also been selected to exhibit at the Halesworth Gallery, Halesworth, Suffolk, from 30th July to 17th August 2016.

6th September 2014 – Eastbourne Pier caught on canvas before its destruction

This painting was featured in the Eastbourne Herald on 6th September 2014, following the sad destruction of Eastbourne’s Pier by fire in the summer of 2014.
